Another week of college basketball is in the books, and the only thing that seems to be certain is that there aren’t any dominate teams this year. Michigan coming into this week was the number one team in the nation, but had a game in Bloomington on Saturday night. Indiana came out on fire, and went up as much as 15 points in the 1st half. Trey Burke wouldn’t let them pull away though, he is the best point guard in the nation, and showed why on Saturday. Michigan cut the lead to 1 in the second half, but Indiana at home is almost impossible to beat. Indiana took down the nation’s number 1 team 81-73 behind 19 points from Cody Zeller. Michigan will host IU in Ann Arbor the last week of the regular season, and I fully expect them to get revenge.
Maybe the shocker of the week happened on Saturday when Oklahoma State went into Allen Fieldhouse, and ended the Jayhawks 33 game home winning streak. Marcus Smart is an absolute beast, and for a freshman he loves the big moments in major games. Smart ended the game with 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assist. Kansas looked to be the best team in the nation a couple weeks ago, but have struggled on the road at West Virginia, and then got beat at home on Saturday. Oklahoma State defeated Kansas 85-80.
Many people will have Indiana as the best team in the nation when the polls come out today, but ours is the Florida Gators. Florida is beating everybody they play by double digits, and have the best offensive efficiency in the nation. The Gators beat Ole Miss at home on Saturday by 14, and that was the best anybody has played Florida in conference play so far. Florida will take on Kentucky next Tuesday, and it should be a top 25 matchup when that time rolls around.
Here is this week’s edition of the top 25…….
- Ohio State
- Michigan State
- Kansas State
- New Mexico
- Oklahoma State
- Notre Dame
