The college football recruiting season is reaching it’s peak with National Signing Day less than three weeks away. One prospect who is still deciding on where he will be committing to is Jireh Prep (Matthews, North Carolina) wide receiver Christian Cumberlander. UK offensive coordinator Neal Brown extended a scholarship offer to Cumberlander, who is rated as a 3-star prospect by ESPN, Rivals, and Scout. He originally attended Troup County High School out of LaGrange, Georgia, where UK has had a strong recruiting pipeline Despite missing two games this past season for Jireh Prep, Cumberlander still finished with 38 catches for 708 yards and six touchdowns.
Here is his personal statement via NCSA Sports:
My name is Christian Cumberlander and I attend Troup County High School out of LaGrange, GA. I am a 6’3, 195 lbs. wide receiver that has good hands, speed, upside, physicality, a good understanding of the game, and most importantly the smarts. I am an all A student that is very responsible and trustworthy. Not only am I a great kid, i also have the tools to play on the next level with my size and ability. I run a 4.47 and have great playmaking ability at the position. Even though I run a 4.4 I run good routes and I do a good job of blocking on the perimeter. The keys that I bring to a team is hardwork, dedication, leadership, and great character. Chosing the college I will attend in the future will not depend on the geographic region of the school or conference. The major that I want to pusue is undecided but I would like to go into engineering, architecture, or communications. I am willing to play anywhere and will not be picky of offers me. College coaches have told me that i have the ability to come in an play as a freshman, but being redshirted isn’t a big deal. I, Christian Cumberlander, am a great young man and good football players with my head on straight focused on the essential things in life that will lead me to a great and promising future, and if you give me an oppurtunity you will not be disappointed. I PROMISE!
