According to Coaching Search, Mark Stoops will be adding some former Orange to his staff. Derrick Ansley, who was the cornerbacks coach at Tennessee, will be taking the same job at UK. Ansley just spent one season with the Dirty Vols and he also coached at Central Florida and was on Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama during the 2011 National Title season. Ansley brings a reputation as a solid recruiter to Stoops staff.
We are less than a month until Football Signing Day and there is going to be a lot of possible turnover on the UK staff between now and then. As of right now, they are rumors and I am not going to list names, but there could be a lot of attrition on UK announced soon, including some familiar faces. According to the buzz, this is due to grades / injury / or just the fact that a new coaching regime brings about turnover.
There is no need to worry as this probably means Kentucky will have a full recruiting class of 25 to compensate and there is a lot of positive buzz around the program. Ryan Timmons will announce his choice on February 5th, which is a day before signing day. Also JUCO CB Nate Willis, who is rated as the #3 JUCO corner is down to a Final two of Kentucky and Baylor. Willis’s interest in UK is definitely due to the Stoops effect as UK was not in Willis’s top four a couple of months ago. Willis will visit Lexington on January 25th and has said in the past, he will announce on February 1 or National Signing Day.
