When you travel to Nashville, you face two opponents: a usually hungry Commodore team and the culture shock of playing in their “benches in the wrong place” court that Vandy fans affectionately call Memorial Gym. Travelling to Vandy is especially rough is you have a young team as you are playing with your coach about 50 feet directly behind you for a whole half. It’s kind of disconcerting, but Calipari has prepared his teams well so far for the rigors of the road at Nashville. Calipari is 2-1 at Memorial and 5-2 versus Vanderbilt overall.

A third factor at Vandy is the crowd. It’s usually insane. As John Calipari says, UK is always some teams Super Bowl and well, Vandy is one of the teams that qualify here. Take that and the seemingly personal rivaly Calipari and Kevin “from the Office” Stallings have. Stallings publicly whined last year that Kentucky did not have any of the Thursday/Saturday ESPN created schedules and guess what? It’s Kentucky at Vandy for the first one of the year. One thing for sure is that the records go out the window when these two teams play. Let’s meet the Commodores:
