Beshear to support Commonwealth Stadium renovations

Tomorrow morning, Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is expected to announce his support for the Commonwealth Stadium renovation.

A press advisory was announced this afternoon for Thursday morning. University of Kentucky president Eli Capilouto will join Governor Beshear in the State Capitol building along with House Speaker Greg Stumbo, Senate President Robert Stivers, and other university presidents from around the state.
Excitement for a renovation of Commonwealth Stadium has been building in recent months with the hiring of UK football coach Mark Stoops.

A wish list for the stadium published recently on a UK website included luxury suites, clubhouse seating for 2,500, new press facilities and concessions, and a new recruiting room near the Nutter Field House.

This goes in hand with the recent K Fund announcements that Darren reported on earlier today.

Justin Rowland at Cats Illustrated is reporting on a trio of visitors from Immokalee to Kentucky. This includes 4-star Immokalee (Fla.) defensive tackle Deadrin Senat, although there have been some mixed reports on Twitter as to whether or not he is actually coming. It also includes Mackensie and Mackenro Alexander. Mackensie is a 4-star cornerback while Mackenro is a 3-star safety.

Jaleel Hytchye tweeted that the Cats will have a top 25 recruiting class.

On the Leach Report this morning, Tom Leach was talking with basketball analyst Joe Dean, Jr. It was an interesting conversation. One of the things mentioned was delaying the start of the season to the beginning of December so that there is no competition with the college football season. This would allow for players to be better developed by the time the season actually starts. At first, I wasn’t sure what to think of the idea but I do like the idea of April Madness. However, the downside to that idea is the end of the tournament is very close to when students will start taking their finals. There’s also the Masters on CBS, too. Just some food for thought.
