The Duke Blue Devils hold onto the number 1 spot once again this week after handling Davidson and Wake Forest easily. Duke has been the most consistent team all year, and deserves to hold onto the top spot until somebody can knock them off. Mason Plumlee and Seth Curry are the studs for this team, but Quinn Cook could be the most important. Cook didn’t hit a shot all day against Wake Forest, but dished out a career high 14 assist. The Blue Devils take on conference opponets Clemson and N.C State this week. NC State has the best shot to knock Duke off the top spot as anyone left on their schudele with North Carolina struggling mightly so far this season.
Michigan had a very strong week as well, and may be playing better than anybody in the nation right now. Trey Burke is the best point guard in the nation, but they also have the nations best backcourt as well with the duo of Burke and Hardaway JR. Michigan went on the road and defeated Northwestern 94-66, and on Sunday defeated a good Iowa team who Indiana struggled with 95-67. Michigan takes on Ohio State this Sunday in Columbus.
Arizona had a really close call this week as Colorado came in, and hit a shot at the buzzer that was later called no good by the refs. Many replays showed that the ball had actually left the shooters hand in time. The refs didn’t see it that way after taking a look at the replay and Arizona held on to defeat Colorado in overtime with a score of 92-83. Mark Lyons was huge for the Wildcats as he had 21 points, and most of those coming late at the free throw line. Arizona struggled again yesterday with Utah only winning by 3 points. This week the Wildcats have a very tough game when they travel to Eugene and take on a very good Oregon team. I could very easily see Arizona getting beat on the road as Oregon is most likely a tournament team, and Arizona while winning is struggling.
Here is this weeks edition of the Top 25……….
- Ohio State
- San Diego State
- NC State
- Notre Dame
- Kansas State
- Michigan State
