The Kentucky Wildcats remained out of the AP and Coaches Poll top 25 for the fifth straight week. Despite pummeling Eastern Michigan 90-38, the ‘Cats fell to 31 in the AP. They actually gained in the Coaches Poll, moving up to 28. The deal is that while Kentucky has played a tough schedule, they haven’t defeated a quality opponent other than Maryland. Close losses to UofL and Duke don’t count, and there aren’t any four loss teams ranked at all.

What’s really hurting the Wildcats are the blow out the Notre Dame and the home loss to Baylor. The media is still nercous about putting the Wildcats in the mix for the polls. A strong early run in the SEC should do the trick.

Big congratulations go out to Willie Cauley-Stein for taking home the SEC Freshman of the Week award. WCS has started the last two games and put up a double-double against Eastern Michigan. He is playing some of the best basketball on the team right now and may even be sneaking into the lottery. Keep it up big guy.
