Wake up, wake up, it’s Gameday!

Pat Forde from Yahoo Sports says that today’s game against Kentucky is the best opportunity Rick Pitino and the Cards are going to get to win a game in this rivalry, and I agree. With a stacked team and a home court advantage, this might be the only chance they get at upsetting Kentucky.

On the CatsPause site, Pitino says that the UK game is just a “special game”, but not a must-win. Last time I checked, Pitino is 1-4 in the past five games against Kentucky and all the pressure is on him to win this game.

Seth Davis of Sports Illustrated has his picks for the game and the other games this weekend, with Gorgui Dieng being the advantage for Louisville in his prediction. The Cards have the edge with an 80-70 win.

John Clay from the Herald-Leader says the Cats won’t get a win this year, even with all the underdog qualities. Louisville is too strong and too mature.

And from across enemy lines, Mike Rutherford from Card Chronicle has a long but good read on why the Louisville-Kentucky series is the best rivalry in all of college basketball, and it’s being turned up another notch today.

Go Cats!
