Coming off of a 2-10 campaign that saw the university of Kentucky football program finish with one of the worst-rated offense and defenses  as well as the firing of head coach Joker Phillips, a program that had been to five straight bowl games from 2006-2011 was now at the bottom of college football, with no glimmer of hope in sight.
