Today was the final “tune-up” game for the Kentucky Wildcats before their annual showdown with the Louisville Cardinals, but that didn’t deter the focus of these young Cats, as they came out and took care of business against the Marshall Thundering Herd.
It was a defensive struggle early on as the Cats held the Herd to just four points over final 11:44 of the first-half, but Kentucky couldn’t create much separation as the Cats made just one of 13 three-point attempts and missed multiple shots in the paint, but held Marshall to 27.6% shooting and lead 33-24 at the half.
The herd would storm out of halftime, scoring the first 7 points to cut the lead to just 2, but the Cat’s would respond with a 22-5 run of their own to blow the game open and cruise to a 82-54 victory.
Ryan Harrow was by-far the MVP of the game, scoring a season-high 23 points on 10/17 shooting. We’ll have a full recap up shortly, but for now, the Cats are 893 heading into next Saturday’s showdown with the Louisville Cardinals, who will boast a top-4 ranking after previously undefeated Syracuse lost today.
