Kentucky Wildcat Basketball: Let Nerlens Noel be Nerlens Noel

When the AP Poll comes out later this afternoon, the Kentucky Wildcats will more than likely, not be ranked for the third straight week. Most of this is due to the fact that all schools are in the “cupcake mode” right now and very few Top 25 schools are losing. Kentucky was #28th last week and only Wichita State will be dropping out, so it looks like another long week of not seeing that familiar “#” in front of Kentucky’s name as well as another week of hearing pundits talk about “what is wrong with Kentucky?”

To be honest, almost any other fan-base in the country would like to have Kentucky’s “problems” : A 7-3 record and a roster loaded full of potential that will be very dangerous come tournament time. But coming off a national title, even Kentucky fans are scratching their heads and a lot of the blame is being pointed at Nerlens Noel.

It was unavoidable that Noel would be compared to Anthony Davis, but the fact that some pundits and fans are down on Noel is somewhat mystifying. On Saturday night, Chip Miller of @UKBigBlueNation sent out a tweet comparing Noel’s and Davis’s stats at this point in the season. And yes, it looks like I am COMPARING numbers, but I really am not. But here is the gist of what Chip tweeted:
