Wildcat Blue Nation Top 25: Duke Overtakes Indiana For the Number 1 Spot

After holding on to the Number 1 spot for the enitre season Indiana was passed up by the Duke Blue Devils this week. I would say it’s because of the SOS that Duke has played and Indiana’s toughest challenge so far has been Gtown. Duke has beaten 3 top 5 teams this season(Louisville, Kentucky, and Ohio State) and on Saturday they handled Temple very easily. Mason Plumlee looks to be having a player of the year type season so far. He is a double-double waiting to happen, and Seth Curry is deadly from beyond the 3 point arc. They are very deserving of the number one spot in this weeks top 25.

Maybe a suprise team to most is the play of Illinois. They went to Maui and beat a very good Butler team, after Butler took care of UNC fairly easy a day before. Then Illinois went on the road this weekend and took care of Gonzaga, who most experts think can make a run at the final four this season. Illinois is now 10-0 on the season, and have a guard in Brandon Paul who is maybe the best point guard in the nation. Could Illinois challenge Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio State for the Big 10 championship? If they keep playing like this they could.

Syracuse and Cincinnati are two teams in the Big East that nobody is talking about, because of Louisville getting all the hype coming into the season. Syracuse went on the road last week and took care of Arkansas with a score of 91-82. This week they just demolished whoever they played and look to be headed towards another great year. Cincinnati may be the most underrated team in the nation. Like Syracuse they are also undefeated, and with Sean Kilpatrick leading this team they could make a great run for the Big East and National title.

Kentucky had a big drop out of the Top 25 last week after loses to Notre Dame and Baylor, but responded this week by beating Samford and Portland at home. Kentucky is very young, but very talented. Ryan Harrow is they key to this teams success, and on Saturday he may have taken his point guard position back. With Harrow, Kentucky can get a lot more easier transition points, and the offense runs a lot smoother with him on the floor. Kentucky makes it way back into the top 25 at number 22.

Here is this weeks version of the top 25………..
