Kentucky Wildcats 88 - Samford Bulldogs 56

The Kentucky Wildcats put a  bad week behind them by pounding the visiting Samford Bulldogs, 88-56. The Wildcats improve to 5-3 on the season and 4-1 at Rupp Arena. The Bulldogs fall to 2-8.

There was a sustained effort right out of the shoot for the Wildcats as they put on the defensive clamps and limited Samford to only four first half field goals. Nerlens Noel led the first half charge with energetic play all over the court, stealing passes, blocking shots, rebounding and going to the rim with authority.

The Bulldogs put on a much better show in the second half, but the combination of Alex Poythress, Archie Goodwin and Willie Cauley-Stein was too much. The Wildcats needed a blow out victory to gain confidence again and move on from the negativity of losing two in a row.

Team Leaders:

Rebounds: Willie Cauley- Stein- 12

Points: Archie Goodwin- 18

Blocks: Nerlens Noel- 5

Assists: Julius Mays- 5

Steals: Archie Goodwin and Willie-Cauley-Stein- 3

The Wildcats will face the Portland Pilots this Saturday at 12:00 PM at
