NCAA College Basketball: Baylor Bears 64 (8) Kentucky Wildcats 55

The Baylor Bears ended the longest home court winning streak in college basketball by knocking off the 8th ranked Kentucky Wildcats 64-55 win at Rupp Arena. Kentucky had not lost since March of 2009 at Rupp Arena and had a 55 game home streak. The loss was also John Calipari’s first home loss at Kentucky.

Baylor was led by Pierre Jackson’s 17 points and Isaiah Austin and AJ Walton both had 10 points for the Bears, who improved their record to 5-2. Kentucky was led by Archie Goodwin’s 17 points and freshman Nerlens Noel had 17 rebounds for the Wildcats. Alex Poythress also chipped in 13 points for the Wildcats.  Cold shooting, however plagues the Wildcats for the second straight game as UK shot just 29.6% from the game and 18.2% from three point range. Despite the rebounds, Noel went just 3-15 in the game.  Baylor did not shoot much better hitting 40.7% but always had an answer for a Kentucky run.

Baylor’s opportune shooting offset a 46-35 rebounding advantage by the Wildcats in the sloppy game.  There were a total of 35 turnovers in the game, 19 by Baylor.  Kentucky suffered its second loss of the week and falls to 4-3 on the season.
