NCAA Football: Kentucky Wildcats-34 Samford Bulldogs-3

UK-34 Samford-3
Venue: Commonwealth Stadium
Game Time: 7:30 PM

As expected, but pushed against nonetheless, the crowd was sparse for the final home game of the season and UK’s Senior Night. The Seniors honored were: WR Aaron Boyd, WR Gene McCaskill, TE Gabe Correll, WR Jarret Leet, K Craig McIntosh, S Martavius Neloms, QB/TE Morgan Newton, CB Cartier Rice, DE Collins Ukwu, OG Larry Warford, C Matt Smith, RB Coshik Williams, T Trevino Woods, DE Taylor Windham, S Mikie Benton, WR EJ Fields, WR La’Rod King, and CB Kristofer O’Bryant.

These kids have played their hearts out all season, and based on their record coming in to this game, and the fact that Joker Phillips won’t be returning, speaks volumes to their character. And as some have anticipated, this game is the blow out it should have been.

UK scored early and often in the First Half tonight, with Whitlow completing 90% of his passes while throwing a TD to Senior WR Gene McCaskill for the first TD of the game, which was followed by Jalen Whitlow’s first Rushing TD of his career. Raymond Sanders ran one in from 14 after a Craig McIntosh FG but the play of the half was Donte Rumph’s sack of Andy Summerlin that was picked up and ran in for a 25 yard TD.

The same could not be said about the Wildcats Offense in the Second Half, however, their Defense was lights out, holding Samford scoreless, but Joker was content to pound the ball basically the entire half so we only managed a Craig McIntosh FG. Of note though, Joker showed his true class by kneeling on 3rd and Goal to let the game clock run out.

UK Team Stats:
455 Yds Passing
342 Yds Rushing

Jalen Whitlow: 10/13-66, TD, Rush TD
Raymond Sanders: 15-133, TD
DyShawn Mobley: 16-82
Gene McCaskill: 3-35, TD
Aaron Boyd: 2-33
Tristan Johnson: 25 Yd Fumble Return TD

Great Win by our Wildcats! Come here to chat it up!
