FIRST EVER MEETING

After a couple of tough games away from Rupp Arena, John Calipari and his Wildcats make their season debut at the friendly confines of Rupp Arena to face the Lafayette Leopards of the Patriot League. Although this is the first ever meeting between the two schools, Kentucky is 8-1 versus Patriot League teams and have the following records: American 1-0, Army 1-0, Holy Cross 3-0, Navy 3-1.

Lafayette is 1-1 this year, and is coming off a 13-18 campaign last year. This year, they have defeated LIU Brooklyn 98-94, and lost to St. Francis 76-65. Lafayette is a very young team and does not have a lot of depth. Injuries forced Lafayette to play a lot of freshman last year and those returning sophomores will be expected to be the core group of this team. At one point of an European tour this year, coach Fran O’Hanlon was forced to play the same five players the entire game due to injuries. O’Hanlon hopes that some of his five incoming pressure can add some depth and get some playing time. Let’s meet the Leopards.
