Kentucky Wildcats 72 - Maryland Terrapins 69

This team has some work to do. The Kentucky Wildcats survive their first test of the season against the Maryland Terrapins in the Barclay Center Classic by three points. Kyle Wiltjer led the Wildcats with 19 points in what looked to be a blow out at first.

Kentucky led by 15 points and were looking to cruise when Maryland fought back in the second half. What was a game dominated by Kentucky turned into a battle in which the led changed constantly and ties were the norm. Youth and inexperience reared it’s ugly head, and John Calipari’s team was tested early.

Luckily, they passed the test and are now 1-0 on the season, with the eighth ranked Duke Blue Devils looming on Tuesday night in Atlanta. That’s not a lot of time to fix the horrible rebounding and the mental errors. But there isn’t time to dwell on that as Kentucky has not played Duke in 10 years and the game will be electric no doubt.
