NCAA EAST REGIONAL FINALS
It has been a decade since Kentucky has played Maryland in hoops, but the two teams have been battling over recruits for the past year. As we recall, John Calipari and Maryland coach Mark Turgeon engaged in a brutal recruiting battle for the Harrison Twins, and Kentucky grabbed the big prize. Both teams are similar in another aspect in the fact that both teams are vastly different from the teams that finished out last season and both have high expectations for this year. Kentucky lost its entire starting lineup to the NBA Draft after winning the NCAA Title. Maryland also lost several key players from last years 17-15 team, and have a lot of solid youth.
Mark Turgeon is a solid recruiter and should have Maryland in the NCAA Tournament this year and his Terps have been ranked a preseason 6th in the always tough ACC this year. The late addition of former Xavier guard Dez Wells can make a them a top 25 team this year. As of now, both coaches have to work with the influx of new players and lineup as neither team will start out in midseason form. Let’s meet the Terrapins.
