4PM Headlines: 2013 Kentucky Wildcats Recruit Aaron Gordon Sets Official Visit

According to the Courier-Journal, 2013 5-star power forward Aaron Gordon is a top 10 recruit and is one of the remaining handful of recruits that Kentucky is still actively pursuing for next year’s team, will be having his official visit at the University of Kentucky on November 10-11.  This is day UK gets back from playing Maryland in Brooklyn.  Gordon is listed as #7 overall by ESPN and the #2 power forward behind Julius Randle.  Gordon is also considering Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Kansas and California.

Also in recruiting news, 2014 top recruits #1 Tyus Jones and #2 Jahlil Okafor hinted at going somewhere as a package deal, the way the Harrison Twins did last month.  Jahlil Okafor said of playing with Jones:

I have a lot of offers, and me and Tyus Jones are thinking package deal on where we will go to school. That is the plan right now. The schools that are recruiting me are also recruiting him, like Kentucky, Michigan State, Ohio State, Louisville, Florida, Florida State, Duke, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Kansas, DePaul, Illinois, Northwestern, UCLA and Wisconsin. I hope I didn’t forget anyone.

When Andrew Wiggins reclassified to the class of 2013, that moved Jones and Okafor up into the top two spots in the class.

Kentucky freshman big man Nerlens Noel was mentioned in another top 10 list today, in a list of top ten scariest defenders.  Noel comes in at #4, behind Aaron Craft from Ohio State, Jeff Withey from Kansas, and Gorgui Dieng from Louisville.

Fellow Kentucky freshman Archie Goodwin also made a top list today as NBC Sports came out with their position rankings for their top 20 shooting guards and Goodwin came in at number 5.

Former NBA sharpshooter Steve Kerr thinks that Anthony Davis is the next LeBron James, according to his statement on the latest episode of NBA TV’s Open Court.
