#13 Sam Malone
5’11″ 185 lbs.
2011-12 Season Stats (Through six games):
Sam Malone was able to show some potential in what little he had played last season, before suffering an ACL injury which ended his season early. He was able to play in six early season games as a walk-on during his freshman season. But he has worked through practice and recovered from a fourth knee surgery in order to be on the team this year. Not only that, be he has also earned a scholarship. This summer, Sam was also able to develop a bond with freshman Nerlens Noel, who is also from Boston.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS YEAR?
For as little as he played last season, Malone was always able to contribute something. Playing in the last five minutes of the game was never an excuse for him not to. We can expect him to be a more aggressive player and show us what he’s capable of.
CALIPARI on MALONE
“Sam is as tough as they come. After suffering three knee injuries, he worked his way back and earned a spot on our team last year. I’m happy to see he’s worked his way back from a fourth knee surgery and will be a part of our team this year as a scholarship player.”
