It all comes down to 5 PM tomorrow night on ESPNU’s ESPN Recruiting Nation to find out where Aaron and Andrew Harrison will be playing for college.
Unlike the Nerlens Noel case earlier this year, where all the online chatter was that Noel would attend Georgetown, a lot of the vibe this week seems to be that the twins will attend the University of Kentucky and play for John Calipari.
WDRB sports columnist Rick Bozich talked with former Louisville Cardinal basketball Rodney McCray about the twins.
“You know what a stickler I am for playing the right way,” said McCray, who won an NCAA title with U of L in 1980 and an NBA ring with the Chicago Bulls. “Well, they play the game the right way.“They don’t tell you how good they are. They show you. They can score. They share the ball. They get in the lane. They defend. They’re strong. They have a nasty streak. If they’re supposed to beat you by 40, they’ll beat you by 50.
“They know they’re good – and when the game is over, you know it, too. You don’t have to ask. They’re really, really good.”
Essentially, it’s going to come down to whether want to play for Kentucky, a Nike school, or Maryland, an Under Armour school.
Scout recruiting analyst Evan Daniels does not see Under Armour as playing a big role in the recruitment. What he does see as the connection is “Turgeon, Ranson & the city of Baltimore.”
The smart money, if there is any, would seem to be that the Harrison twins go to Kentucky if USA Today High School Sports reporter Jason Jordan’s unscientific poll is any indication.
The Kentucky basketball fans that are rabid followers of college basketball recruiting will just have to be patient over the next several hours.
