I really enjoy doing these football game preview pieces. It’s actually the highlight of my blogging week. But the said truth is that they aren’t going to be as fun to do due to the awful loss to Western Kentucky this past Saturday.
With that being said, the previews must continue. Good. Bad. Or indifferent.
Kentucky Wildcats (1-2, 0-0) at #14 Florida Gators (3-0, 2-0): Saturday September 22nd, 12:00 PM
While Florida’s Jeff Driskel has only thrown three touchdowns all season, the Gators remain undefeated thus far. They have a pretty impressive resume by already winning two SEC road games against Texas A&M and Tennessee. The running game and the Gator defense has been the difference maker. That and the fact that they own the fourth quarter. They have outscored all three of their opponents 27-0 in the final period of the game.
The Wildcats are a mess right now. After being defeated at home by a sandlot play that Willie Taggert drew up just seconds before it was executed, the calls for Joker Phillips to be fired reached decibel levels of which were unheard. The defense is ranked near the bottom in almost every category and they are 103rd in rushing offense. But hey, at least they are 13th in passing yards!
Kentucky needs to keep this one respectable. If not, Joker could be going home a lot sooner than the end of the season. I know Mitch Barhart said that his stance on the coach hasn’t changed but an emotionless blow out loss in the Swamp may be enough to change his mind. The Cats need to keep it respectable.
But they won’t.
