It appears that John Calipari is fully expecting Nerlens Noel to play this upcoming season, which is comforting considering the number of players that the NCAA is investigating at the moment.
Here is what the head coach had to say about his star recruit to USA Today:
We feel comfortable,’ Calipari told USA TODAY Sports. “It’s a review that those kinds of players go through. When you reclassify, you’re going to have reviews. When you reclassify and some people are mad you reclassified, there are going to be some reviews. That’s how it is. We’re comfortable that he’s done everything he was supposed to do.
This is the first that we have heard John Calipari really speak on the Noel investigation. If Noel would not have switched classes then I doubt the NCAA would have had to step in. But, what Cal does not clarify is whether or not Noel may still see some type of discipline for maybe having some financial aid while making unofficial visits. That investigation appears to be ongoing.
Expect NCAA inquiries for Andrew Wiggins if he decides to make the jump to the 2013 class, which all indications point to that conclusion.
