As reported earlier, John Calipari has courted rapper Drake to lead one team of the two Wildcat Alumni teams in the Kentucky Basketball Alumni Game next Saturday, September 15th.

Drake, who sold over 1.4 million albums in 2011 and noted as one of Kentucky’s biggest basketball fans, recently received his own National Championship Ring (you can see here) and performed in the first Big Blue Madness of John Calipari’s tenure as coach of the Wildcats in 2009.

Currently, the roster consist of current and former NBA players, including at least two from the 2012 championship team (Darius Miller and Doron Lamb) and six from the 1996 championship team (Jeff Shepard, Walter McCarty, Antoine Walker, Derek Anderson, Tony Delk, Wayne Turner).

Others who are likely to participate, schedule permitted, include Demarcus Cousins, John Wall, Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Glichrist, Tayshaun Prince, Rajon Rondo, Brandon Knight, Eric Bledsoe, Patrick Patterson, Terrence Jones, and Josh Harrellson.

As for the other coach, rumors have spread that Kentucky has recently reached out to Lebron James to see if he may be available to roam the sidelines, adding another name into what could possibly be a competitive NBA 2014 All-Star Team.

Tickets to the game are still available on Ticketmaster.com and your local Ticketmaster outlet.
