September 2, 2012; Louisville, KY USA; Louisville Cardinals running back Senorise Perry (32) tries to break through the line past Kentucky Wildcats linebacker Tyler Brause (10) at Papa John
I’m tired of writing about what happened at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium yesterday. I really am. I was looking for anything else to write about, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how bad the defense looked yesterday. After one game, Kentucky’s defense is already ranked 89th in the country for points against. That’s right, 88 other teams didn’t allow as many points as the Wildcats.
I don’t have to rehash the numbers. The defense made Teddy Bridgewater look like a star and it made Louisville look like they have one of the best rushing attacks in the country. Is Louisville really that good or is Kentucky’s defense just that awful? Time will tell which is true, there is no need to debate that point after one contest.
The Governor’s Cup is over and done with, there’s no use in dissecting it or complaining about it any longer. There are 11 more games on the schedule. The Wildcats have two weeks to try and get it together on defense before the fun really begins.
