2014 four star Canadian guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes has recently trimmed his list and Kentucky is on it. RathanMayes is set to visit the ‘Cats tomorrow. UConn, UCLA, Florida State and Kansas are among his favorites. It’s a good sign to see him visiting UK this early on in the process.
Here’s a video of him doing his thing. Quite impressive:
His ball handling skills are sick. It is also noteworthy that he is out of Huntington Prep West Virginia, home of Kentucky’s very own Patrick Patterson. Maybe 2 Pat can do some recruiting for Coach Cal. Not that Coach Cal needs any help.

Insidelouisville.com has taken the lead on the Yum! Center debacle. I could do an entire post on this (and I probably will). Without getting into too much of the details, the University of Louisville has the right to take control of the building if it defaults financially. This should come as no shock as Tom Jurich already controls what takes place in the arena. He has total rights when it comes to booking outside entertainment. His main interest is to make sure that the Louisville basketball team gets any and all prime scheduling and then filling the rest of the dates with women’s volleyball and basketball, two sports that LOSE money on the building.
This story comes to us just days after Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer stated that it’s about time to actively start pursuing an NBA team in hopes of helping payoff some of the debts of the Yum! Center as well as trying to boost Louisville’s economy. The University is actively trying to prevent an NBA team from coming to Louisville in order to ensure the arena defaults.
Let’s get something straight: The University of Louisville is the bad guy here. They used taxpayers dollars to build their precious arena and are OK with spitting in their face as the public and the Mayor vocally call for an NBA team. In true Little Brother fashion, the University is scared that the NBA would steal some thunder as well as take away prime dates set aside for women’s basketball and volleyball.
If you are a resident of Louisville, read the article, be outraged and don’t let Louisville get away with this. It’s your arena, your hard earned money built it. Have a say in what teams play there.
