Jonathan Reed

Cornerback

5’10″ 178 lbs.

Pike HS (Indianapolis, IN)

As one of a few cornerbacks and defensive backs who committed to Kentucky, Jonathan Reed happens to be in the top tier of them. Rated as a three-star CB from Pike High School in Indianapolis, Reed chose Kentucky over other nearby schools. He also held offers from Marshall, Temple, and Toledo, but committed to UK last year. Reed runs a 4.4 in the 40, the fastest recorded time of the defensive backs in the incoming freshman class.

Reed also has a lowest recorded time of a 4.3 in the 40. Despite going 5-6 last season, Pike was able to make the state playoffs each year. Reed, who attended the same high school as former Kentucky point guard Marquis Teague, had this to say on his expectations for the season: “Everybody pays attention to predictions. I don’t care if you say you don’t look at them, you do,” Reed said. “But what matters is how you take them. I see it as a challenge. I like the challenge and it makes you work harder to know you are the underdog. There’s nowhere go to but up.”
