All signs pointing to James Young becoming Kentucky Wildcat Basketballs second 2013 commitment

At this point, if James Young is not a Kentucky Wildcat in 2013, it will be a huge upset.

As we recall, Young lobbied for more attention from John Calipari and Kentucky in the spring and he got it.  Young has also completed an ascent that sees him as the #8 player nationally and there is a buzz that he is a bit under ranked and could be a top five player when all is said and done.  Young has been vocal about his interest in Kentucky and he will be making a visit soon and should announce his decision by the end of August.

It’s hardly a secret that Kentucky is the big favorite.  After coaching the Dominican Republic team against the US Olympic team on Thursday night, John Calipari hopped on a flight and James Young was literally his first visit.  Gary Parrish had this this to say:

But the Kentucky coach didn’t spend a minute longer in Las Vegas than was required. Calipari boarded a plane after the defeat and was here on the East Coast this morning watching (among others) Class of 2013 star James Young, who acknowledged he was surprised to see Calipari in Virginia early Friday morning considering he was in Las Vegas late Thursday night.

“I kinda was,” Young said. “I appreciate the love. It shows he cares about players. I like it.”

CBSSports.com ranks Young fourth in the Class of 2013.

Most think he’ll eventually be a Wildcat.

Parrish is not the only one talking.  Evan Daniels from Scout talked to young recently and asked if he may commit after his visit to UK.  Here is what Young had to say:

”If I like it after a week or two I’ll probably make my decision.”

Make no mistake, Young is still going to take his visits and look at other schools.  He is planning on isiting Kentucky, Kansas, Ohio State, Michigan State, Syracuse and Missouri, but its coming apparent Kentucky is the leader for Young and by a long shot.  Josh Paunil of National Recruiting Spotlight recently sent out this tweet with a Young quote:

James Young: “I don’t have a list. It’s just Kentucky and then everyone else. Hopefully by the end of August I’ll make my decision.”

Look for the dominoes to start to fall in the next six weeks.  2013 is shaping up to be Calipari’s BEST CLASS EVER.  And that is saying a lot.
