Due to the injury to Blake Griffin, former Kentucky Wildcat Anthony Davis will be using his passport this summer after all. DeMarcus Cousins was also considered to replace Griffin, but in the end, Davis got the call. Davis played in last night’s Team USA vs Dominican Republic exhibition and AD, LeBron, and Coach K got the best of their good buddy John Calipari 113-59. Davis especially rubbed salt in the wound as he knocked down a trey and was fouled for the four point play for the final points of the game, briefly flashed the three goggles and then taunted Coach Cal and Orlando Antigua.

As for Davis, we all know what color Blue he is true to. As for Coach K? Calipari will get his revenge on November 13 in Atlanta. Good luck to Anthony Davis in London. Represent the USA and the BBN well.

John Calipari announced on ESPN last night that he will no longer coach the Dominican Republic team and that last night’s game was his last. Calipari did a great job in his two years bringing the DR team just just one win away from their first ever Olympic bid. The buzz is that UK assistant Orlando Antigua may take over the coaching duties for the Dominican Republic team. You have to wonder if that will keep him in Lexington a couple more years if he does so. It’s hard to imagine him taking the job if he has aspirations of a head coaching job soon. We all know what a toll this took on Calipari but its certainly something to keep an eye on.

So what’s next for John Calipari? RECRUITING. Cal tweeted out at 6:00AM this morning that he was getting on a plane and headed to the East Coat and was going to start recruiting tomorrow. After he wakes up, I bet he starts making some phone calls today. Just a hunch. Calipari said that he is going to be spending the next three weekends out on the recruiting trail, but reserving Monday and Tuesday for practice time with his team.

Seriously, I can’t imagine what the last three months have been like for Calipari personally. He went from celebrating a national championship tean to wrapping up his fourth straight top ranked recruiting class to seeing six of his players drafted in the NBA Draft to almost making history again with the Dominican National Team. I can’t imagine. In the same period, Tom Crean found the time to complain about UK several times and attend the ESPY’s and relive the glory of Watford’s fluke shot again.

Turning back to basketball recruiting, Jabari Parker released a “top 10″ list of UK, Stanford, Michigan State, Kansas, Florida, Duke, BYU, Georgetown, DePaul, and North Carolina and added a “no order” comment. One notable school missing? Louisville. Jabari has said he will make his decision in November.

Just a few brief NBA notes to finish up. We have covered all the new UK players in the NBA but looks like there will be a few Wildcats changing teams. Nazr Muhammad will not be back with the OKC Thunder. Hopefully he can catch on with another team. Also, Jodie Meeks will not be a member of the 76ers anymore, so look for him to sin with a new team soon. Other UK names to look for in free agency? Daniel Orton and Keith Bogans will be looking for new teams as well. You may include Jamaal Magloire, but word is he may resign with the Raptors.
