After spraining his ankle and missing out on playing for Team USA in the upcoming Olympics, as well as getting shut out of several deserved awards last night during the ESPYs, Anthony Davis may finally be getting some good news as he has been asked to return to Las Vegas in order to fill in for the now vacant spot left by Blake Griffen after he seriously injured his knee today.

Davis will be available tonight and is expected to dress for Team USA’s exhibition game against John Calipari and the Dominican Republic at 9:00 P.M. EST. It will be an odd sight seeing Calipari and Davis on opposing teams after the two accomplished so much during their one season together at Kentucky. Under Calipari’s coaching,  Davis won every major National POY award and took the basketball world by storm, while helping Calipari win his first national championship and bringing the championship trophy back to its rightful home in the Bluegrass.

Though Davis is part of Team USA for the moment, even if Griffin’s injury is serious enough to keep him out of the Olympics, that does not guarantee Davis a roster spot.

By the way, the USA team is a 40.5-point favorite against the Dominican Republic, making this likely the biggest point spread Calipari has ever gone against.
