Breaking: Florida safety Jalen Battle has committed to Kentucky

by Kentucky football

According to Jeff Drummmond of the Catspasue, the Kentucky Football team has received a verbal commitment from Florida safety Jalen Battle, who becomes the 9th football commitment, and its barely July. Battle is a 6’3″ 190 lb. defensive back from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and held schloarship offers from Buffalo, Tulane, UMass, Stetson, Navy, Illinois, and Florida A&M. He was receiving a lot of interest from Miami, FL and Rutgers.

During his junior year in 2011, he accounted for 39 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss, and five sacks. Scout.com rated him as a two-star prospect, while Rivals.com didn’t have him rated. Joker Phillips clearly isn’t listening to all of the negative media and fans who are clamoring for his head, as he’s now secured 9 commitments in a class that only expects to see 15-17 players signed come next February’s national signing day, a day I believe Joker will be around at UK to be a part of.

Here is a brief highlight film of Battle:
