If you watched Kentucky closely during the 2009-10 season, then you know what kind of attitude DeMarcus Cousins had and still has. No, it isn’t the attitude of a 15 year-old girl, but that of a hungry basketball player on and off the court. In a recent interview with the Sacramento Bee, Cousins had a bold prediction for himself this summer: “I can make that team.”
He is heading to Las Vegas to train with team USA on a separate team to compete with them, in the same way a JV and Varsity team work. In this case though, Cousins believes he will be promoted from JV to Varsity in no time. “My main focus is to come back a better leader,” Cousins said. “Learning from the elite guys in this league, who are already leaders on their team, just picking up habits from them … “
While in Las Vegas, Cousins will work with some of the best in the NBA on a daily basis, such as LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Kevin Durant. Considering that the official USA roster will not be shortened to 12 at that time, he will also have the opportunity to work with Anthony Davis. Cousins has already been working hard in the gym, and it would be great to see the Big Blue represented in the UK, no pun intended.
