The Western Conference finals began last night with the San Antonio Spurs hanging on to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 101-98. The Eastern Conference finals begin tonight with the Boston Celtics heading down to Miami to take on the Heat. Three out of the four teams have direct connections to Kentucky Wildcats basketball. Here is a guide to help you decide who to root for.
The Boston Celtics
This the easiest of the three teams which to pledge your Wildcat allegiance. Former Wildcat Rajon Rondo has been nothing short of brilliant in the first two rounds. He helped close out the Sixers on Saturday night with an 18-10-10 triple double performance. He is leading his Celtics to a third conference finals appearance in the last five years. While Rondo was not always a Kentucky fan favorite, he has become an NBA superstar and made his way back into the fold last summer by participating in the UK Legends exhibition games. He faces a daunting task in facing Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat. A second ring is not impossible but an aging Boston team must go through hell to get it.
