It wouldn’t be a basketball offseason in the Bluegrass state without someone trying to cast a dark cloud over the proudest basketball program in the land. Yes the University of Kentucky basketball program is once again under fire, this time from the Coalition of Intercollegiate Athletics, also known as COIA. The COIA believes that Kentucky is operating as a professional organization looking to train potential NBA players for one year to prepare them for their NBA careers while playing non-conference games be at neutral sites to promote a more professional, NBA-like atmosphere to further prepare them for the next level. The COIA then asks other school to refrain from playing Kentucky in hopes of boycotting these acts in order to promote a more collegiate atmosphere.
