As good as Reed has been, he may not even be the best freshman on his own team. Centerfielder Austin Cousino has been dynamite offensively for the Cats this year. He started in 55 of 56 games, most of which were at the leadoff spot, and didn’t disappoint. He hit .330 with 9 homeruns and 38 RBI. For his efforts, he was named the SEC Freshman of the Year in a conference that features 4 teams in the top-11 in the nation. The future ofUKbaseball looks very bright.
Former UK linebacker Danny Trevathan signed a four-year, $2.2 million contract today with the Denver Broncos. He’s now officially an NFL player, and will look to team up with former UK linebacker Wesley Woodyard as they look to be strong contenders in the AFC West, and may even be a threat to make it to the Super Bowl this year.
Congratulations to former UK point guard Brandon Knight, who was named to the NBA’s All-Rookie first-team today after averaging 12.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game for the Detroit Pistons. Hopefully the Pistons can getBrandonsome help this offseason in the form of someKentuckyplayers in the NBA Draft.
