Happy Mother’s Day, hopefully you bought your Mom some UK gear this year. Maybe something pink. Heck, buy her some football season tickets. She is just as knowledgeable as most people in the stands. Never watched football? I stand by my statement.
On days when there hasn’t been much actual UK news to write about (besides UK baseball getting rained out), I browse message boards to get a feel for the BBN’s pulse. To stir my imagination and inspire an article. Today I came across a thread complaining (what else) that Joker Phillips and Co. don’t recruit the state of Kentucky more. This was placed directly below a thread discussing the need for Joker to win this year. The irony was too great not to mention.
Joker Phillips and staff don’t recruit Kentucky hard for several reasons. The main one being that Kentucky doesn’t produce nearly enough talent to win SEC football games. The 2013 class is the exception, with numerous coveted prospects suiting up across the Commonwealth this year. James Quick, Jason Hatcher, Ryan White, Ryan Timmons, Hunter Bivin and Jacob Hyde are all great players. But during an average year there will be 1 or 2 players of this caliber in the state.
