Kentucky secured a commitment tonight from Wright State combo guard Julius Mays. As a Raider last year, Mays averaged 14.1 PPG and 2.8 RPG, shot 42.8% from the field, and a blistering 42.4% (50-118) from three-point range. He was money from the free throw line, as he hit 119 of 143 attempts for 83.2%
Mayes started his collegiate career at North Carolina State before transfering to Wright State and his friendship with Ryan Harrow was key in getting him to commit to the Cats. He’ll be a 5th-year senior on a UK team that has no established 3-point shooters outside of Kyle Wiltjer. He has chosen to pursue a master’s degree in sports leadership that’s offered at Kentucky, but not at Wright State. The news of this commitment comes courtesy of Steve Jones at Cats Illustrated.
