Happy Derby Day and Cinco de Mayo! While I enjoy your readership I hope your adventures have you out and about this evening. Of course you could be reading from our mobile site. But I digress. That was a pretty good derby huh? A favorite runs out of steam down the stretch and I’ll Have Another swooped in to steal the roses. Thus began an endless stream of people making jokes involving the horse’s name and believing they were original. I realize that a horse race isn’t really related to UK sports but Anthony Davis and Coach Cal played prominent roles in the ceremonies. And nothing says Kentucky like the Kentucky Derby.
Recently basketball recruit Anthony Bennett dropped Florida from consideration, which was thought to be great news, as most felt his leaders were UK and UF. Now reports are coming out that Bennett may not qualify to play in the SEC and if he doesn’t he will choose between Oregon and UNLV. This is unwelcome news, as I think Bennett would be the crowning jewel atop another #1 class for John Calipari. It seems that Bennett still favors the Cats if he can get his grades in order, so cross your fingers.
All is more or less quiet on the football front, the coaches are out on the recruiting trail but there doesn’t seem to be any commitments imminent. The coaches are working with less than the normal 25 scholarships and seem to be very selective this year. Expect a few commits this summer once the Blue Lights camps get going.
Finally, I want to congratulate our football editor Kyle for doing an interview with Predominantly Orange, the Fansided Denver Broncos site. Kyle helped the Bronco nation get to know Danny Trevathan.
