In reality, Landon Foster will most likely win the starting punter position. The only recruited player on campus who could have taken the job is Joe Mansour, but he is more of a kicker who can punt in emergencies. All of the other candidates are walk-ons. It is scary to think that such an important position hinges on a true freshman being ready. But at a position where you can only have 1 or 2 on scholarship at any given time, it is difficult to build depth of any sort.
The fact that this article even had to be written is kind of silly, but that is the state of the BBN. Perhaps it is the effect of a disappointing season. Or that Kentucky’s meager success during the past decade has drawn in new fans that aren’t very knowledgeable about football. It seems as if folks have decided that complaining and being detrimental to the program in any way they can will eventually lead to a better product. Or a product they like better. But it is getting silly.
