The #2 Kentucky Baseball team took on #1 LSU at Cliff Hagan Stadium today. The Cats were looking to even up the series after losing a heartbreaker last night, 5-4.
UK jumped out early to a 2-1 lead and Austin Cousino belted a 3-run homer in the 4th inning to extend the Cats lead to 6-1
They continued to lead 6-1 in the bottom of the 7th inning, when Luke Maile added on two more runs with his 11th homer of the season to extend the lead, 8-1, which would prove to be the games’ final score.
UK pitcher Jerad Grundy had a solid outing as he pitched 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 3 and walking 3 on 86 pitches.
The rubber game between the nation’s top two schools will be tomorrow at 2 pm.
