Remember when Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators absolutely OWNED Kentucky in basketball? It was just a three year period (3/6/2005 – 3/8/2008) but for this Wildcat living in Florida, it felt like an eternity. During the short reign, Florida racked up two NCAA Titles and so impressed Orlando Sentinel writer Mike Bianchi so much that he predicted that the Gators had permanently supplanted the Kentucky Wildcats as Kings of the Southeastern Conference. Remember that?
Yea …..
Well, let’s also remember that before that Gator seven game “dominance”, Kentucky had won eight in a row against UF. And since that streak, Kentucky has won eight of ten and four games in a row. So normalcy has been restored to the SEC and now the Gators face the Wildcats again just six days after ruining Senior Day for Erving Walker and manhandling the Gators on their home court 74-59. Sorry I can’t think of a better into to this since I just wrote this matchup story a week ago, so let’s meet the Gators … again.
