Let’s start today’s edition of the 5 with a bit of list cutting. Nerlens Noel, the top rated prospect in the 2012 class is now down to five schools per a story on Scout.com. Noel has reportedly cut Providence and Florida from his list and now has a final five of Kentucky, Syracuse, Georgetown, UConn, and North Carolina. I have to say that I am a bit surprised about the exclusion of Providence. Reports from the Providence media had been bordering on almost cocky that the “closest school” would land Noel, but I have to say the final five bodes well for the Wildcats. Syracuse may not be able to offer a scholarship or much playing time if Fab Melo returns and UConn would be out if Noel wants to win a national title since the Huskies are out of the tournament next year. Expect the rumors to really start flying now that the high school seasons are wrapping up.
