Michael Kidd-Gilchrist got in on the individual award action as he was named the SEC Freshman of the week. Against Mississippi State he scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds. Against Vanderbilt he had 8 points and 8 rebounds. And World Wide Wes had nothing to do with it, Jeff Goodman.

Still, More good news! Kentucky is again the #1 team in the nation, as shown in both the AP voting (‘Cuse still getting 2 top votes) and in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll (UK getting all the votes).
The coaches poll has some explaining to do as Duke jumped to #3 and Kansas stayed at #4 despite the fact that Kansas was the team that knocked off #3 Missouri to open the spot up. Kansas defeated Texas A&M and Missouri while Duke knocked off a sinking Florida State team and barely scraped by the Bubblicious Hokies of Virginia Tech. The Duke bias at ESPN is transparent and beyond annoying.
As for the rest of the coaches poll, Michigan State is #5, UNC is #6, Marquette is #7, Missouri is #8, Murray State is #9 and Baylor is #10. Ohio State drops to #11, Florida drops to #13, Louisville drops to #18 and IU rises to #20.
The AP poll makes more sense as Kansas is #3, followed by Duke, Michigan State, North Carolina, Missouri, Marquette, Baylor and Ohio State clings to #10. Florida is #16, Louisville falls to #19 and IU rises to #18.

And now for the bad news. Kentucky senior linebacker Ridge Wilson was arrested in Louisville at 12:17 AM Sunday morning on felony drug trafficking charges. He was in an area known for drug trafficking when an noticed his vehicle. Wilson was found with Xanax pills in his pockets as well as $1,947 is cash.
Wilson had 47 tackles, second most on the team, last season as a junior and he was expected to be the leader of a young but talented core. Wilson has been arrested before in 2009. He has been indefinitely suspended from the team. Joker Phillips has yet to make a statement. This is a huge blow for the defense. You can read about it all here.
