It might be Sunday – but its a Big Blue Nation Son day… and we’re wishing a very happy birthday to one of the latest fan favorites, the jean shorted one, Josh “Jorts” Harrelson.

It was this time last year when Josh went from role player to super star, leading the 2010-2011 Wildcats through the SEC tournament and to the Final Four.

And in other less substantial news:

  • Kentucky forward, Jon Hood hit his 6 month anniversary from having knee surgery today. On Twitter, he announced that he feels like he is nearly back to where he was back in July, when he blew his ACL.
  • Earlier this week I wrote that Anthony Davis was a close second to Thomas Robinson in the Naismith Player of the Year Award standings. After Davis’ 15pt, 8 rebound, 7 block game and Robinson’s 24 pts and 14 rebounds yesterday – I still stand by those standings. Davis playing on national television and having a Dick Vitale rallying the troops around the Davis campaign is certainly going to make it a lot closer than it was three weeks ago.
  • Kentucky is off until next Saturday when they play Mississippi. The last time Kentucky had a week between games, they beat North Carolina and then lost to Indiana. According to Larry Vaught of Vaughtsviews.com, Calipari said

“We will have something special Wednesday. It’s so late in the season they don’t need two days off,” the UK coach said. “It’s not like we are having three-hour practices. We are going to change it up…We are going to do something to change it up based on what happened between North Carolina and Indiana”

Vaught thinks it could be a scrimmage in Memorial or a practice streamed on the Internet. Cal always has a way of keeping the BBN engaged even when the team isn’t on the court.

  • A great stat of the day for you per Tom Leach – Every national championship team at Kentucky won their game at Vanderbilt.
  • Ohio State is still #1 in Ken Pomeroy’s rankings, despite losing to Michigan State by 10 at home.
