Twitter: A Blessing and a Curse

I have a ritual every morning when I wake up. I sleepily head straight to my Keurig coffee maker in order to prepare my first cup of the day. This is essential to my routine, if I don’t do this then my day is shot. After my single cup of coffee is ready to go, I flip on the TV and watch Sports Center. As I am updated on whatever I may have missed after I hit the sack the previous night, I flip through my Twitter timeline on my phone to see what my Tweeps are up to and to check to see if there is any late breaking news regarding the Wildcats.

As I checked out my Twitter feed Tuesday morning, I noticed a new trend started by Florida fans. #UKHateWeek was popping up all over the place, but not in the way Gator fans intended. Every time I saw the phrase, it was being used by a Big Blue fan as a tool for mockery. And why not? The Wildcats played the Gators Tuesday night, so how was this #UKHateWeek if it was just started in one day? And does #UKHateWeek continue even after Kentucky beat Florida?

This is why Twitter is so awesome. It gives us a glimpse inside the minds of our greatest rivals.
