Kentucky Wildcats have another historic “first” in 78-58 romp over Florida

There should be little doubt who the number one team in the country is this morning after the Kentucky Wildcat’s 78-58 win over #7 Florida.  And by all accounts, Kentucky is on a run of historic proportions.  One of the benefits of being editor of this site is that I get a running commentary of texts from WBN stat guru Corey Price before, during, and after the game.  Here are a few of the marks that this Wildcat team is setting:

• This is the 8th time in school history that Kentucky has had a 24-1 record or better after 25 games
• This is the first time that Kentucky has allowed 58 points or less to 5 straight SEC opponents in the same season since 1951-52
• Kentucky is now #1 in the country in blocks, FG percentage defense, and scoring margin
• Last night’s attendance of 24,389 was the 10th largest in Rupp Arena history.  Kentucky is 8-2 in those games
• Last night was the first time ever that Kentucky shot at least 52% from the field, at least 60% from 3-point range, and 100% from the FT line in the same game
