Though it is a basketball Saturday, the biggest UK news of the day is former UK alumni and Steelers All-Pro center Dermontti Dawson has been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Dawson is regarded as one of the greatest centers in NFL history, and was named to seven straight Pro Bowls, was a six-time First-Team All-Pro, was named co-AFC Offensive Lineman of the Year in 1993 by the NFLPA, and in 1996 he was named the NFL Alumni’s Offensive Lineman of the Year. At one point, he played in 170 consecutive games, which is the second most in Steelers history. Congratulations to Dermontti and his family on reaching the highest honor in the sport he’s given so much to.
