Have the recruiting dominoes started to fall? There has been some interesting speculation in the much hyped Brandon Knight/Josh Selby recruitment lately. First, late this week some guy calling himself “Gatortrey” posted on what appears to be a Michigan State blog and said that from the rumors he heard in Florida, Brandon Knight would be commiting to Kentucky next week. Note that I did not mention it last week as I am not as sure as to the validity of this guy and I kind of discounted him as a hater due to the fact he was babbling about World Wide Wes. Seeing that the guy is supposedly a lawyer in Gator country, he may have some connections or a source. Who knows.
Then today, we get news that Josh Selby has cancelled his trip to Lexington for tomorrows game against Florida. According to Adam Zagoria, he was too upset about his loss in his HS playoffs to be into a trip to Lexington. Keep in mind that Selby blew off a UConn trip due to “car trouble” and Kansas sites are very confident about landing Selby. Putting all this together, it appears that Selby is Kansas’s to lose? And could Selby be headed to the Jayhawks because Brandon Knight is coming to Kentucky? It’s starting to get interesting.
Regardless, Senior Day will be well repped by plenty of recruits. Big man Enes Kanter, a top 2010 target, is already in Lexington and was seen out with John Calipari and Josh Harrellson. Kanter is the Turkish import and is considered to already be a top 20 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
And three of the top 2011 targets, Milchael Gilchrist, Quincy Miller, and Marquis Teague will be at Rupp Arena tomorrow. It’s pretty amazing that three of the top five players in the 2011 class will all be together for the last regular season game and it speaks volumes about how far Calipari has brought the program in Year One. Deuce Bello, a top 100 player in 2011, but one who’s stock is set to explode will also be attending with Quincy Miller.
